SBB comes back with a great treat for the fans of ambitious rock - a DVD with archival recording of a 1979 gig at Sala Kongresowa in Warsaw! The release offers 85 minutes of SBB's distinctive progressive rock, "in which one can hear influences of classical music as well as jazz-rock instrumental frenzy." Enjoy this great musical treat delivered by the jazz/prog rock giants at a most significant point in SBB's history, filmed shortly before the release of their legendary album "Memento z Banalnym Tryptykiem".

The DVD includes loads of bonus materials such as: interviews with the band's leader Józef Skrzek as also with two of SBB's ingenious guitarists Apostolis Anthimos and Slawek Piwowar, a ballet etude "Multiwiza", a videoclip "Brzegi Lagodne" (featuring Halina Frackowiak), live performance of "Rainbow Man" (TV Show "Rock-Pop" for ZDF), as also bonus audio tracks constituting the unfilmed remaining part of the gig at Sala Kongresowa!

SUBACTO PROGFEST confirms that the english band Pendragon today has been confirmed for the Subtacto Progfest 2007. Pendragon really doesn't need any introduction for progressive rock fans, and it's for sure that they will be a exciting and valuable addition to the festivals line-up. They are also proud over the fact that this will be the bands first performance in Norway, about time! They hope that it will not take 23 years until next time the band visits Norway! Pendragon joins the already confirmed line-up of A.C.T (Sweden) and the three norwegian bands Magic Pie, White Willow and Wobbler. Three more bands is expected to join the final line-up. The Subtacto Progfest will be held at the world famous venue Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway saturday 4th of august 2007. YETI RAIN is a dark ambient project featuring William Kopecky on fretless bass and Roger Ebner on wind synthesizer. The duo’s music is otherworldly and visionary, the perfect soundtrack for a disturbing dream of inner and outer spaces. Kopecky’s backward loops, ethereal melodies and resonant tone combined with Ebner’s haunting and inspired performances make for a heady listening experience that can best be described as an aural hallucinogenic.

Kopecky and Ebner met at a music club one evening in the late spring of 2005 when both their bands happened to be sharing the stage. Mutually impressed with each other’s talents, they decided to record together at Ebner’s Blue Thread Studios. Thus began a series of experiments in spontaneous composing that resulted in a compelling collection of strange and darkly beautiful soundscapes. By the summer of 2006 the CD was near completion and the duo had to find a suitable label. Unicorn Records in Canada had already released two excellent prog rock CD’s featuring Kopecky on bass (Kopecky’s BLOOD and Colossus ADEA by Parallel Mind), but Yeti Rain’s music is something else altogether. It’s not progressive rock, but it’s definitely progressive. So Kopecky contacted Michel St. Pere at Unicorn and asked him to give Yeti Rain a listen. St. Pere promptly replied, saying the duo doesn’t need a label; what they really need is a doctor! With that kind of understanding, it was obvious Unicorn Digital was the best choice for Yeti Rain.

William Kopecky is known internationally for his expressive bass playing. He has performed and recorded in the United States and abroad and is a first-call bassist in the progressive rock field. His extensive discography includes CD’s by Kopecky, Par Lindh Project, Far Corner, Michael Angelo Batio, and Parallel Mind. On Discarnate, Kopecky plays tanpura (one track) and wind drum in addition to fretless bass.

Roger Ebner is an adventurous musician who has forged a unique sound on his wind synthesizer and saxophone. His middle-eastern and abstract stylizations have garnered him critical acclaim as a member of the psychedelic rock band Ovadya and the sinister avant-garde funk ensemble Snarling Adjective Convention. In addition to playing wind synth for Yeti Rain, Ebner is also the duo’s recording engineer.

GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA – Tid är ljud (Trans022) (Record Heaven) First timers G.B.S. plays classic prog with influences from a.o. KEBNEKAISE and TRÄD GRÄS & STENAR. - Danish/Swedish/American music collective, ÖRESUND SPACE COLLECTIVE, is right now mixing a follower to the selftitled debut. ”It´s all about delay” as the title is will be a double cd! Swedish band ANDROMEDA confirmed support slot at Pendragon’s "21st Anniversary of The Jewel" concert. This special event will take place on 31st October in Wyspianski Theater in Katowice (Poland) and will be recorded for the future DVD releases from Pendragon, Neo (super group with Clive Nolan - Arena/Pendragon/Shadowland, John Jowitt - IQ/Jadis, Andy Edwards - IQ, Mark Westwood - Martin Orford Band, Nick Barrett - Pendragon, Alan Reed - Pallas) and Andromeda.

Andromeda in line-up: David Fremberg – vocals, Johan Reinholdz – guitar, Martin Hedin – keyboards, Thomas Lejon – drums and Fabian Gustavsson – bass will concentrate on their recent “Chimera” album but the set-list will also include tracks from older albums - “Extension Of The Wish” and “II=I”.

The fantastic prog act HIGH WHEEL from Germany, has signed with Progress Records in Sweden. First High Wheel album out will be a 2CD Live album to be released in late November 2006. Their four - sold out - studio albums will be re-mastered and re-released with improved booklets during spring 2007. It seems to be a really interesting spring for Progress Records and progressive rock lovers in general as the label will also release new albums from Galleon, Cross, Magic Pie and Grand Stand during first half of 2007. Planned release schedule is: Galleon (January), Cross (February), Magic Pie (April), Grand Stand (June).

QUIDAM - 15TH ANNIVERSARY

In February this year it has been 15 years since Quidam formed. According to this anniversary they are planning to release re-editions of three first albums. They will look like replica of analog album ( each will contain a cardboard, unfolded cover). But what is the most important to each CD there will be added a second one. In case of "Sny Aniolów" it s obvious that there will be two language versions (polish and english), but as far as first album "Quidam" and "Baja Prog" are concerned, they hope you will be nicely surprised:-)
Special remastered version of anniversary first album will contain a additional CD "Rzeka Wspomnien" (River of Memories). They searched their archive and menaged to find few interesting recordings which have never been released, but they were asked for them. They believe that it is a good opportunity to remind them although not good quiality of some of them. Thanks to the efforts and kindness of friends of Qudam, CD will also consist of recordings of other bands in which some of them had an opportunity to participate. They hope that you will joyfully participate in this historical journey, and this release will become an important supplement of Quidam discography. Here you will find two cover songs recorded in club "Pod Przewiazka" in Cracow: "White Rider" and "Horizons", you will also find the only track of Deep River recorded in studio,"Szukajac szczescia". Track "Rzeka Wspomnien" didn't find its place on "Pod Niebem Czas" and this was the last song recorded with Emila, but now will be available. Furthermore, recordings of Ogrodnicy, Talath Dirnen, Belgrad and few pleasent "images": videoclips and live performances of Sanktuarium, from their first concert abroad on "Day of Dreams" in Holland.
Equally interesting the new edition of "Baja Prog" - Live in Mexico '99". On additional DVD !!! you will find full videos of four tracks from already know live album: "Chocbym", "Rhayader/Rhayader Goes To Town", "Sanktuarium", and "Angels of Mine", but also never released : "Pod Powieka", "Nocne Widziadla" and "Bajkowy". That's not all - you wil also see two short reports from the stay in country of cactus and Tequila :-)

Two great bands have signed with UNICORN and their albums will both be released this September.

Israeli band SYMPOZION has sign a deal with UNICORN DIGITAL to re-release their first CD “Kundabuffer”. The CD will be release on September 15 2006. Produced, recorded and mixed by Udi Koorman, Sympozion CD Kundabuffer combines fusion, Canterbury and Symphonic Rock. Released independently in 2004, the band has created a real buzz in the progressive community. Sympozion has a unique sound that UNICORN DIGITAL is Proud to release.

Unicorn Digital continues to seek and find some of the finest artists in the world of Prog and Polish prog band T.A.O. is one of them. Their first album The Abnormal Observations will be released on UNICORN DIGITAL on the first of September 2006. T.A.O. is a blend of many influences and their modern Prog will please those seeking for some intricate arrangements and writing.

Metal Mind Productions is proud to announce that first DVD of GALAHAD - one of the most important bands on the world's progressive scene and the unquestionable icon of the 80s new wave of prog rock – will be released on 11th September. IT BITES are reuniting to record a new album and go on tour. The original line-up of John Beck on keyboards, drummer Bob Dalton, and bass player Dick Nolan, is to be completed by the addition of John Mitchell (Arena, Kino). Original singer and guitarist Francis Dunnery is unfortunately unable to commit to the reunion. With his personal life and career now largely based in the USA, recording and writing schedules were impossible to co-ordinate. Thus the remaining band members turned to John Mitchell, who John Beck and Bob have been working together with over the past few years in the band Kino. John Mitchell has a solid and impressive musical CV, having been lead guitarist in rock outfit Arena for 10 years, as well as playing and recording with John Wetton. At a number of Kino gigs, the band have played the It Bites classics ‘Plastic Dreamer’ and ‘Kiss Like Judas’ to a rapturous audience reception, so it seemed a perfect fit to propose Mitchell as successor. The band members have already started writing and will start recording later this year. There will be some live shows prior to the release of the album, and a full tour to accompany its 2007 release.

Antiquity in all times attracts and inspires people of the art. And this band is not an exception. Karfagen – (means Karthago) a symbol of glory and wisdom and also it is a never-ending journey into the world of the forgotten past and un-predictable future. Skeptics say that the Karthago was destroyed and all the music is written. Our goal is to refute This, And even though there is no hockey in Ukraine, there is definitely pure art-rock with bright melodies. The name Karfagen was first heard in 1997 when Antony Kalugin formed the band at school. While he was studying at the architectural university (1998) he began to record the first KARFAGEN album. It was far from the style of nowadays band but it was the first steps which needed to be done… In 2000 KARFAGEN played a few concerts with concept new material. But in consequence of discrepancy between the band members, plans for the next album was put aside In 2002 Antony completed his first solo album “the Water” Then there was another period of silence where Antony worked on commercial new age – relax projects. From 2003 – 2005 Antony composed and performed on more than 40 albums, that were released in Russia and Ukraine. With those projects, Antony gathered the necessary funds to record the first KARFAGEN Album and in 2005 the band reformed and went into the studio to record CONTINIUM, the first KARFAGEN album which led the band to sign with UNICORN DIGITAL in a country where ironically there is plenty of Hockey.

It is with great enthusiasm that SPACED OUT presents their fourth and latest studio work entitled “Unstable Matter”. The album contains the high-energy jazz-rock which is now the band’s signature, offering ten new exciting original compositions. A lot of time has been dedicated on the performance and production of this new record and Spaced Out fans can expect to listen some interesting music, including more intricate interplay and dazzling improvisation than ever before. Unstable Matter presents compositions written and produced by Antoine Fafard who is responsible for all the bass work, keyboard programming and, for the first time on a Spaced Out album, many guitar tracks. Martin Maheux still on the drums and Mark Tremblay performs the guitar solos and additional guitars for his second contribution on a Spaced Out album. It is a record with explorations through various dynamics, unusual rhythmical patterns and modal textures. As always, the unique compositional style found in Spaced Out’s music makes it hard to classify the band. But the purpose of the band has never been to be classified. There is no compromise in the music offered by Spaced Out. The only rule is that the band must offer the world continuous high quality based on their own rigorous standards.

“Unstable Matter” is new a release that should indeed please many ears.

The long-awaited second album of Montreal prog Fusion group KARCIUS, Kaleidoscope, is now available and to launch this great new CD, the band will present a show at the Cabaret Juste Pour Rire (2111 St-Laurent Blvd, Montreal) on Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Karcius is composed of Mingan Sauriol on keyboards, Thomas Brodeur on drums, Simon L'Espérance on guitars, and Dominique Blouin on bass. Their spellbinding mix of hard jazz fusion / progressive music is inspired and highly imaginative, with influences of LTE, John McLaughlin, Jaco Pastorius, Planet X. The opening group will be Myxomatosis, a Montreal band that plays a great mix of alternative progressive music with influences of Dream Theater and Tool, featuring Olivier Laroche on drums, Marc Papillon on guitars, Simon Brault on bass and Alexandre Pelletier on vocals. The ORESUND SPACE COLLECTIVE are half way finished with mixing our next double CD called "It's all about Delay" with cover artwork by Ed Unitsky. It is sounding great with tracks ranging from 5 minutes to 25 minutes, with most around 10 minutes long. The new CD is really different from our first one and a lot more upbeat and diverse in the sounds. I think our fans will for sure like this one a lot. They have just sent off a track called Waaaaaah for the Music Street Journal Compilation CD that will be out later this year with artists, Erik Norlander, Lana Lane, Don Schiff and Gak Omak and the OSC. They have also completed compiling the latest 3 volumes in their best of jam session CD-R series called Picks from Space. Volumes 8-10 should be ready in end of next week. They're just working on the last of the artwork. They will have a good price deal for those who buy all 3 at once. They will play their only concert this summer on the weekend of July 21-22nd at our usual place, the Dragens Hule. They hope to be joined by the amazing First Band From Outer Space, who have a killer new CD out very soon. They will make a monster jam session out of it as well.

KALEIDOSCOPE is the second release from Montreal Prog-Fusion Band KARCIUS. This new album is a blend between Modern Rock and Jazz-fusion that will take the listeners to various moods and images. E' il nome del Festival di Rock Progressivo che si svolgera' a Novara, nella sua prima edizione, il 2 giugno 2006.

Il festival cade in un momento in cui si sta riscontrando un crescente interesse verso il 'Rock Progressivo', in tutto il mondo, con una particolare attenzione alle band italiane, sia a quelle storiche come PFM, New Trolls e Arti & Mestieri, freschi reduci da entusiastici riscontri in Giappone, Corea e Messico che alle 'nuove' band, nate discograficamente dagli anni 90 in avanti, come il 'Castello di Atlante', che dopo aver partecipato con gli stessi 'Arti & Mestieri' al Baja Prog Festival, in Messico, nel 2004, quest'anno si presenta al 'Prog Sud Festival' a Marsiglia, il 25 maggio ed al 'Poseidon Festival' in Giappone, quest'autunno.

Heron Prog presenterà dunque, reduci dalle loro diverse esperienze internazionali, Arti & Mestieri e Castello di Atlante ed altre 2 band molto interessanti, ossia gli italiani Calliope, anch'essi parte del movimento "new Prog' come il 'Castello di Atlante', creatosi negli anni 90 e che come loro si sono creati una considerazione 'fuori dai confini nostrani', e che debuttano 'live' internazionalmente al Festival Di Tournai, in Belgio il 20 maggio, e i Giapponesi Asturias che presentano il Loro originale "prog cameristico", anch'essi ospiti ricorrenti di festival internazionali.

The release date of SEVEN REIZH's new album "Samsara" will be the month of september, not may/june as previously announced. After three years of hard working, the band decided to take more time to mix it. For further informations http://www.seven-reizh.com

After 8 years of writing, rehearsing, recording and performing, FARPOINT took a break in late 2005 for the members to reassess their future goals. Based on a combination of internal and external factors, Farpoint disbanded on December 15, 2005.

With this decision, founding members Rick Walker (drums) and Kevin Jarvis (guitar, keyboards) immediately decided to continue their musical partnership, uncertain as to the final direction it would take, but never ruling out the possibility of reforming Farpoint if the opportunity arose and conditions were right. They began searching for and auditioning like-minded musicians with which to begin recording a new album.

By February, 2006, vocalist Dean Hallal and vocalis/flautist Jennifer Meeks had been brought on board for recording purposes. Also by this time, former Farpoint guitarist Mike Avins and former Farpoint bass guitarist Frank Tyson had both expressed interest in playing on the cd. All six musicians met several times in late February and early March, and the decision was made to reform Farpoint. Work is currently underway on Farpoint's fourth studio album, entitled Cold Star Quiet Star.

While Farpoint's main focus now lies in completing the new album, three live summer shows have been set to introduce the new band lineup. First, Farpoint will play a special, free show in our hometown of Sumter, SC on Saturday, June 17. Details will be forthcoming regarding the venue and time. Farpoint will also be appearing at the Rogue Independent Music Festival in Atlanta, GA, on Saturday, July 8, 2006, and the following week at the DC-Soar progressive music showcase in Bethesda, MD on Saturday, July 15, 2006. After maintaining success with their 2003 2CD set "From Land To Ocean", GALLEON made a couple of gigs in Europe and then took a break for a year before starting to write new material. Since then there has been a slight change in the line-up. Original member Dan Fors felt that he had achieved what he wanted with his musicianship and called it a day and now a replacement is found. The new drummer is multi-instrumentalist Göran Johnsson (who also is the drummer of Spektrum and keyboard player of Cross). At this moment they are rehearsing five new pieces. They describe the new songs as "rooted in the Galleon tradition but also with some new, more complex ideas adding certain freshness to the Galleon sound". The goal is to record a new album and have it released later this year.

It is with great honor and pleasure that we invite you to celebrate 35 years of Emerson, Lake & Palmer with The Carl Palmer Band, on Saturday, May 27 2006 at the Medley (1170 St-Denis Street, Montreal).

Carl Palmer, the rhythmic backbone of progressive rock's first supergroup, has been hailed as one of the world's greatest drummers, thrilling rock fans worldwide with his dazzling speed and technical virtuosity. The Carl Palmer Band features Carl Palmer on drums and percussion, Paul Bielatowicz on guitar and Stuart Clayton on bass. The power trio will serve up an all-instrumental show, entitled "Carl Palmer Celebrates The Music of ELP".

The tour, which will begin in late May and continue through early July will cross Canada and the United States. Carl Palmer says: "I am very excited to be returning to North America to see and play for the many loyal fans I have come to know over the years", says Palmer, who announced his tour this week from Europe where Palmer has been touring since 2002. “This is a trio, which ELP also was, but we have replaced the keyboards with some very powerful guitar interpretations of that classic music. Although ELP had a lot of vocal hit songs, we were really about musicianship and conveying the spectrum of emotions through our instruments. Many of the classic elements of these songs remain, but they have been updated and reinterpreted through my new band". Among the songs featured in the show are: Tarkus, Fanfare For The Common Man, and Hoedown.

Swedish / Danish project in the ambient spacerock school. Long adventurous tracks, featuring member of GAS GIANT among others.

GARGAMEL – Watch for the umbles New Norweigan band with their debut album. An album that features mellotrons, hammond, cellos, musically in the VAN DER GRAAF / KING CRIMSON / ANEKDOTEN school. Long tracks.

The new VIOLENT SILENCE album, "Kinetic", will be out sooner than expected. The finalizing steps went faster than expected so it will be released already on November 25 (and not in February 2006). Here is how PROGRESS Records describes their new work: "A brilliant album with distinct composing and rhythmically complex arrangements, a bit like late days Crimson, but on keyboards. Dashes of Genesis, UK, Greenslade and other more melodic 70’s bands are also to be found, but performed with the heavier sound of Violent Silence."

GAZPACHO are supporting Marillion again this year for their "not quite Christmas tour" in Scotland, France and Holland. You can also expect a Gazpacho concert in Oslo, on "home turf" (although they're considering applying for Dutch passports and buying some clogs as our music seems to really appeal over there..:-)) in December. The legendary progressive rock band MIRTHRANDIR has announced their reformation and the schedule for their first live appearances since 1977.
The band will perform material from their classic "For You The Old Women" as well as several works that have never been heard live. Audiences at next springs BajaProg and ROSeFest will be among the first to see and hear one of the shining examples of American symphonic progressive rock of the 1970's.
MIRTHRANDIR will feature four of the six original band members; vocalist and trumpeter John Vislocky III, bassist and flautist James Miller, drummer Robert Arace and keyboardist Simon Gannett, as well as new members John E. Callahan III and Alan Benjamin on the twin guitars. MIRTHRANDIR will perform next year at the 10th annual BajaProg festival staged at Mexicali, Mexico, March 8th, through the11th and at the Rites Of Spring festival (ROSefest) in Phoenixville, Penn., April 29th through May 1st Additional dates and details will be announced when available. Furthermore the DRAKH VON TRIP album "Heart And Consequence" is planned to hit the street in 2 weeks as well as a (legal) re-issue of the old RÅG I RYGGEN (Trans013) sole album from 1975. This is an album filled with heavy progressive rock with lots of fuzz, swedish lyrics, and hammond sounds. This is truely a monster unleashed !! Out mid november !!
